(SG) ## Your 'Total' is the quantity you hold multiplied by the applicable price. Here is which price we apply, and how your unrealised gain or loss follows from it. 'Total' shows an indicative current value of your holding. It is the quantity you hold multiplied by the applicable price for that asset. Because private assets do not trade continuously, there is no live market price to apply, so we use a fixed order of price sources: net asset value, external market price, last price, and finally cost price. (MY)](https://help.alta.exchange/investor-resources/how-is-the-total-value-of-my-investments-calculated-my?hsLang=en)\]. **What does 'Total' show?** 'Total' is an indicative current value of your holding, calculated as follows: **Total = Quantity × Price** It is not a price at which you can buy or sell. It is an indication of value based on the price sources set out below. **Which prices do we use?** We use four price sources. Not every asset has every type available. **Net Asset Value (NAV).** For fund products, the per-unit valuation published for that asset. **External Market Price.** A price for that asset obtained from outside our platform. **Last Price.** The price of the most recent completed transaction in that asset on our platform. **Cost Price.** Your recorded cost price for that asset. **Which price applies to my holding?** For each holding, we apply the first source that is available for that asset, in this order: 1. Net Asset Value 2. External Market Price 3. Last Price 4. Cost Price We apply these in a fixed priority rather than by date, so the price we use may not always be the most recently dated one available for that asset. Where no other source is available, we display your holding at your Cost Price. This is a fallback rather than a valuation, and it does not tell you what your holding is worth today. **Worked examples** Suppose you hold 1,000 units of a fund product. **If a NAV is available.** A NAV of $118.40 per unit has been published for that asset. Because a NAV is available, we apply it: Total = 1,000 × $118.40 = **$118,400.00** **If no NAV is available.** We look next for an External Market Price. If that price is $92.50: Total = 1,000 × $92.50 = **$92,500.00** **If neither is available.** We look for a Last Price. If there is none, we display your holding at your Cost Price. **How is my unrealised gain or loss calculated?** Your unrealised gain or loss is the difference between the indicative current value of your holding and your investment amount: **Unrealised gain/loss = Total − Investment amount** Your investment amount is recorded when your order is created, and it does not change afterwards. Using the first example above, and assuming your recorded investment amount for that holding is $100,000.00: Your investment amount = $100,000.00 Your Total = $118,400.00 Your unrealised gain = **+$18,400.00, or +18.40%** **Are fees reflected in these figures?** We do not apply a separate fee adjustment when calculating 'Total' or your unrealised gain or loss. Your investment amount includes any fees applied to that investment at the point your order was created. **What should I keep in mind?** **These figures are indicative.** They are not prices at which you can transact, and private assets frequently transact at a discount or premium to the figures shown. **Prices are not updated continuously.** We apply the most recent price available from the applicable source, which may have been set some time ago. **Gains and losses are unrealised.** They move as prices are updated, and no gain is realised until you receive a distribution or exit the investment.
